From Season 4 Predictions: Will Jim Matthews Return?

From season 4

MGM+ hit series From is set to return with its fourth season in 2026. Showrunner Jeff Pinkner has not yet released a premiere date, but TV pundits estimate a launch in March or April. The production wrapped up last November, leaving a moderate amount of time for the post-production work.

The season three finale was shocking to say the least. Although we lost one of the beloved characters, the finale wasn’t without its merits. We get to learn that the town was possibly set up in the 16th century, where an entity convinces families to sacrifice their children for immortality.

The fourth season will be pivotal in the story’s overall arc. Let’s discuss possible theories on the upcoming series, along with the possibility of Jim returning to the show.

Jim’s Fate In The Season Three Finale

Jim Matthews, our beloved protagonist, saw an undeserved demise at the hands of the Man in the Yellow Suit. Jim’s murder was a major upset; the shock was next only to Ned Stark’s execution in Game of Thrones. And, to add to the misery, his daughter Julie witnesses her father being violently killed.

During the final minutes of the season finale, Jim hears Julie’s cry for help. However, Julie looks different from the last time we saw her at the diner with Ethan; her hair color has changed, and she also has scratch wounds on her face. As suggested by Ethan previously, this Julie could be a storywalker from the future. is suspected to be a storywalker, a person who can visit parts of a story that have already happened.

Next, we see the Man in the Yellow Suit appear out of nowhere. Although he looks like one of the monsters, the man is significantly stronger and can even walk outside during daylight. The man easily overpowers Jim, and before his final blow, he tells a terrifying line:

“Your wife shouldn’t have dug that hole, Jim.”

The mystery man turns out to be the same one whom Jim talked to on the radio in the first season. With this final realization, Matthews gets his throat torn apart by the Man in the Yellow Suit, giving his character an undeserved death.

Will Jim Return In Season 4?

Eion Bailey, the actor playing Jim Matthews, has joined the cast of From season 4. However, it’s unclear how the story arc will justify his presence.

While some internet theories suggest Jim’s character could be limited to flashbacks, many netizens believe that the storywalker plot could save him. Ethan hints that Julie could be a storywalker as she visits previous chapters of the story; however, he also suggests that a storywalker can’t change the story.

Nevertheless, Ethan lacks sufficient knowledge to support his assumption, which is why viewers believe he could be wrong.

If Julie succeeds in traveling further back and warning her father about his impending death, she might be able to save her father’s life. In the final scene, too, she tries to tell Jim that he was about to die, but is too disoriented to communicate the message effectively.

Let’s hope she will be more calculated in her next attempt.

Jade And Tabitha Were A Couple In Their Past Lives

The season 3 finale revealed a major plot twist: Jade and Tabitha were husband and wife in a past life. As they regained memories from their past lives, the two realized that they were the parents of a girl who was sacrificed during the first cycle.

The couple tried to rescue the children from the villagers, but failed to save their daughter and the lives of the other children. The sacrifice starts a chain that forces Jade and Tabitha to take multiple births and end up in Fromville.

As her memory was restored, Tabitha also realized that she was Miranda, Victor’s mother. This revelation uncovers the fact that Tabitha and Jade would be reborn again if they were unable to stop the cycle.

Randall Is The Man In Yellow Suit

Randall Kirkland, played by AJ Simmons, was introduced in the second season of From; he was one of the passengers in the Grand Rapids Runner Bus that got trapped in Fromville.

Randall’s character became highly notorious, primarily due to his unwillingness to adapt in the town and his suspicious nature. He also teams up with Jim to investigate the town’s true nature, but fails horribly as he takes Donna hostage, causing Jim to end their dynamic duo.

In the third season, we saw Boyd betraying Randall to get the keys to a vehicle. He gets captured and mutilated by the monsters, but is left alive. The Man in Yellow resembles Randall in many ways, giving rise to theories that the two are the same.

The man’s yellow suit could be a symbolic representation of Randall’s obsession with yellow defibrillators. Similarly, a photo initially featuring the Man in Yellow showed a scarred face like Randall, although the man who killed Jim contained no scars.
