Inaki Godoy One Piece actor

One Piece fans might be familiar with Inaki Godoy- he plays Monkey D. Luffy in the live-action adaptation. With the role, he is bringing the manga character Luffy to real life in the much-anticipated Netflix series.

The show, which is now in its second season, debuts on March 10, 2026, and is ready for the brand-new adventures of the Straw Hat pirates. With Godoy as the main protagonist, he, along with his nakamas (official term for colleagues), will be sailing towards the Grand Line.

While the stakes are certainly high, the Mexican actor is proud of his role and is enjoying the ‘super-cool experience.’ Here are the things you need to know about him:

He Is Honored To Play The Role Of Luffy

Portraying the role of Luffy is not a piece of cake; it involves bringing the manga character to real life. Inaki Godoy is fully aware of it, and he is pouring his heart into portraying the protagonist of the highly popular One Piece franchise since the first season of Netflix’s live-action adaptation.

During his interview with Vanity Fair, the actor expressed his honor to play the role of Luffy. Sharing his excitement about the production and affirming that the ‘experience will stay with him forever, regardless of the outcome,’ Godoy said:

To portray a character like Luffy is one of the greatest honors of my career and I know that this experience will stay with me forever regardless of the outcome. I hope fans will enjoy the live-action just as much as I’m enjoying working on it. This show is making me grow as both an actor and person. I’m nervous, but I’m way more excited.

The live-action of Eiichiro Oda’s manga One Piece was first announced back in January 2020. The first season was released on August 31, 2023, with eight episodes covering the major events from Romance Dawn, Orange Town, Syrup Village, Baratie, and Arlong Park arcs of the anime series.
